Conference POWER IN NUMBERS THE ROLE OF THE RURAL POPULATION IN CHRISTIANISATION AND STATE FORMATION

On 11-13 October a conference was organized at the Department of Archaeology with the support of KREAS and affiliation to Q07. All information including the presented abstracts can be found under this link.

Session organisation at EAA 2021

Project leader Mária Vargha organised session 352 at the EAA 2021 conference in Kiel, Germany during 8. – 11. September 2021. The title of the session was Empowering the Voiceless. The Role of the Rural Population in State Building and Christianisation in East-Central Europe.

Call for papers

At the beginning, the main organizer of the session, Mária Vargha, presented the results of the analysis of the parish network in Hungary. This was followed by papers describing the current status of the Sacriece database (M. Janovský) and syntheses of current knowledge on large areas of Central Europe (I. Štefan, B. F. Romhányi, P. Parvanov, and M. Čechura). A paper on a specific site was presented by R. Zbigniew, where he discussed the archaeologically famous Moravian hillfort Bojná. J. Belaj ended the session with his contribution on the Knights Hospitaller and their influence on religious and socio-cultural changes in the archaeological record.
